Steenberg is Boxers' lone winner against Yakima Valley

01/23/2009 -
YAKIMA, Wash. - Summer Steenberg (So., Sequim, Wash.) was the only winner in a very small Pacific lineup as the Boxers fell 36-6 to Yakima Valley CC in women's wrestling action at Sherar Gym.

Steenberg was a winner in her first folkstyle competition of the season, scoring a pin over Ashlee Phy in the 59-kilogram bout. Kisha Milfort (Jr., Miami, Fla.), Pacific's only other competitor in the match, lost by fall in the 72-kilogram bout to Monique Dillner.

Because of a lineup limited by a rash of injuries, the Boxers forfeited matches 48 kilograms, 51 kilograms, 55 kilograms, 63 kilograms and 67 kilograms. Neither team fielded competitors at 80 kilograms.

The Boxers will now take another extended break. The team is not scheduled to compete again until Feb. 14, when they face Simon Fraser and Douglas.
